At Bellavue Medical Vein & Laser Institute, we offer permanent treatment for a variety of problems women face with veins, including, Varicose Veins, Cherry (Spider) Angiomas, Facial Telangiectasias and Spider Leg Veins. We use only the latest state-of-the-art laser technology and other advanced methods!
We offer the following vein treatments:
- ClariVein™ MOCA
- Radiofrequency Abulation (RF)
- Entrevenous Laser Vein Treatment (EVLT)
- Cutera Laser Vein Therapy
- The Venefit™ Procedure
Treatment areas include: the face, neck, chest and lower extremities such as the legs, ankles and feet. Discomfort during the procedure is minimal, and most patients do not require a local anesthetic. However, application of a local anesthetic prior to treatment is always an option. Common side effects include swelling and redness at the treatment site, which generally resolves within 24 hours.
If you’re suffering from problems related to varicose and spider veins, you aren’t alone. It’s estimated that more than 80 million Americans suffer from some form of venous disorder. While many seek relief from pain, some people seek treatment for cosmetic improvement. We are here to help.
Venous Reflux Disease
Healthy leg veins contain valves that open and close to assist the return of blood back to the heart.
The venous system is made up of a network of veins, including:
- Superficial veins: veins located close to the surface of the skin.
- Deep veins: larger veins located deep in the leg.
- Perforator veins: veins that connect the superficial veins to the deep veins.
Venous Reflux Disease in the superficial venous system is often the underlying cause of painful varicose veins.
What causes Venous Reflux Disease?
Venous Reflux Disease is progressive – symptoms can worsen over time if left untreated. It is a serious, progressive disorder.
Venous Reflux Disease develops when the valves that keep blood flowing out of the legs and back to the heart become damaged or diseased. As a result, vein valves will not close properly, leading to symptoms of:
- Varicose Veins
- Pain
- Swollen Limbs
- Leg Heaviness and Fatigue
- Skin Changes
- Ulcers

ClariVein MOCA
Most endovenous ablation techniques are based on heat delivery to the vein wall for women that are having issues with pesky veins. The Mechanochemical Ablation (MOCA) using the ClariVein® device has been developed to minimize the negative aspects of endothermal ablation and ultrasound-guided sclerotherapy. This method utilizes a rotating wire within the lumen of the vein: the mechanical injury to the venous inner wall is associated with simultaneous infusion of a liquid sclerosant through the same catheter; no tumescent anesthesia is needed.
It’s an office-based procedure and normal daily activities can immediately be resumed. Venous occlusion rates are comparable to those achieved with endothermal methods.
Radiofrequency Abulation (RF)
Radiofrequency Ablation (RF) is a minimally invasive procedure used in the treatment for women who are suffering from varicose veins. It’s an alternative to the traditional stripping surgical procedure.
Under ultrasound guidance, a radio frequency catheter is inserted into the abnormal vein and the vessel is treated with radio-energy, resulting in closure of the problem vein. Radio frequency ablation is used to treat the great saphenous vein, small saphenous vein, and perforator veins. The latter are connecting veins that transport blood from superficial veins to the deep veins. Branch varicose veins are then usually treated with other minimally invasive procedures.
Entrevenous Laser Treatment (EVLT)
EVLT is a quick, minimally invasive, outpatient, laser procedure performed utilizing imaging guidance.
After applying tumescent anesthesia to the vein in our female patients, the interventional radiologist inserts a thin catheter, about the size of a strand of spaghetti, into the vein under ultrasound guidance and guides it up the greater saphenous vein in the thigh or the lesser saphenous vein in the calf. Then pulses of laser light are delivered inside the vein. This heats the vein and seals the vein closed.
There is no post operative scarring, as only a tiny laser probe and a slim plastic sheath enters the vein via a tiny skin nick.
Benefits of EVLT:
- Immediate relief from symptoms
- No scars
- Only a local anesthetic is needed
- Can be performed in the doctor’s office (no hospitalization needed)
- Treatment in less than an hour
- Normal activities can be resumed immediately – with little or no pain
